As the rains didn’t stop on the fifth day of the Sydney Test, the play was called off for the day as well, ending the match in a draw.
The draw here means India become the first Asian team to win a series in Australia and Kohli becomes the only captain to do this in 72 years.
India did outplay Australia in most of the areas right from batting to picking up wickets. None of the Australian batsmen reached the triple-figure mark which is surprising considering the Australian standards.
“We’ve been outplayed in some areas,” Tim Paine conceded prior to the start of play on Monday. “It’s been a hard-fought series and they deserve to take home the trophy. We’ve got to try and look at the positives.”
