In the history of Indian National Congress, the oldest party in India with 134-years of great past, a transgender activist, Apsara Reddy has been appointed as Nation General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress.
Before joining Congress, Apsara Reddy was a well-known Journalist and was also associated with BJP and AIADMK for a short time period. The party officials have taken this news to Twitter and welcomed Apsara Reddy:

The reason for leaving BJP, she said that she was seen as a ‘photo opportunity’ for public and media whenever there something related women, especially in every Women’s Day.
In an interview with News18, she expressed her feelings on joining Congress:
“All my life, transgender women have been told that you’ll never be able to make it in your life. To be welcomed into one of India’s largest and oldest national parties is hugely emotional for me.”
As said earlier, India is changing and there is no rush we like this kind of surprise change, and sure you feel the same way. And yes! With this news and much such news, we have moved one step closer towards a more inclusive society.
