A survey has found that India has the most number of fake news and internet hoaxes compared to any other country in the world.
A report by Microsoft found that 64 per cent of Indians had encountered fake news, compared to the global average of 57 per cent. Meanwhile, 54 per cent had come across internet hoaxes, in comparison to 50 per cent worldwide.
The fake news includes those WhatsApp forwards which led to danger including loss of lives in various places in India.
The reports also say that the online interaction between people in India revealed that they face 29 per cent high risk from the friends and family, one per cent above the global average.
