It is very rare to see people who are interested in our ancient culture, music and others. And it is also very sad that slowly these getting disappear. Like, one of the famous Santoor player Pandit Shiv Sharma’s Santoor was made up one family from generation. But it seems that even that generation is the last one to make such amazing 100 strings music instrument known as ‘Santoor.’ Ghulam Muhammad Zazis the last generation to make Santoor, which is used by Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.

According to a report, there is nobody from his family who would continue the generation of making Santoor. “We used to engrave it with hangul horns and ivory, but today we use the horns of the sheep. My grandfather would make beautiful floral designs out of ivory,” says Ghulam Muhammad Zaz.

He is the last of the eighth generation in his family to carve the classical instrument. Like, for eight gen, this family was producing one of the ancient musical instruments – Santoor. Yes, it is indeed an ancient instrument with 100 string on it.

“I don’t use any tool for measurements, it is all engraved in my heart and mind,” says, Zaz.
