India suffered a humiliating eight wickets loss in the hands of England at the semifinal of the World Cup T20. Harmanpreet Kaur decided to go with the last match winning combination, Anuja Patil ahead of Mithali Raj which raised the eyebrows. Mithali, who played two games in the tournament and scored 107 runs at an average of 53.50 recovered from the injury right before the Semifinal but didn’t make it to the playing XI.

India struggled with the bat scoring just 112 runs, In reply, England was all comfortable, winning the match by eight wickets.

Annisha Gupta, the manager of Mithali Raj posted a series of tweets after the loss-
“Unfortunately @BCCIWomen believes in politics not sport. After witnessing what @M_Raj03 ‘s experience could do in IndvIre it’s shocking that they went with what pleases @ImHarmanpreet -a manipulative, lying, immature, undeserving captain,” came a tweet from Gupta’s Twitter account which was later deleted, as of now the account has also been deleted. In a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo though, Gupta had confirmed that the account belonged to her.

In the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet Kaur said, “Whatever we decided, we decided for the team. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, no regrets. I’m proud of the way my girls played through the tournament”.
